You know he is sick because he gets turned on by getting incontinence.

He was no less stand up than the Vikings who discovered America, or the Chinese emperor is, or the Japanese feudal lords, or the African chiefs who sold their enemies as slaves, or the Native American chiefs who sold their enemies as slaves. Or...

None of them committed genocide against a friendly tribe because they did not give them gold that they had no knowledge even existed let alone how to mine and smelt.

Nope. They killed each other for much better reasons, like refusing to be serfs or slaves.
ShatnerButt 0 karmaOctober 2017
That is a better reason because at least they can agree to be slaves. Columbus sailed around the world to commit genocide for no reason against people who can't even surrender.
Also everyone except Collumbus gets bonus points for both thinking the world was a sphere and knowing the correct size.

I don't think anyone has ever agreed to be a slave...

Lots of people actually. It was common to sell yourself into slavery, or for groups to surrender a war and become slaves, religious reasons or no other ability to support themselves is the most common today.
AddedI guess to clarify my earlier point, I think it is worse to kill people for no reason that selfishness. We are not remembering a remorseless conqueror, we are remembering a deluded serial killer who won the lottery.

Somewhere along the line, a fundamental error occurred in that reasoning. I think it might be the concept of guilt by association.

Whoa. I never said that he was good, Everything we teach in school about Columbus is wrong. As someone who hates the whitewashing of history, I also hate the backwashing of history, Columbus isn't being corrected now because he was as bad as Hitler, he is being corrected because there has been a trend of making europeans out to be evil in backlash to Eurocentrism. I don't feel guilty, only a sense that someone can be something besides a pure hero or villain...

To clarify, I didn't mean that you should/do feel guilty for sharing some level of common heritage with genocidal twats. That was in reference to the idea that Columbus was "no less stand up" than whole peoples such as the Vikings, who presumably ran the gamut of standupsmanship.
